[OSM-newbies] active mappers

Hi,

is there an easy way to check when a mapper was last active and where he
lives? As it seems, the 'user location' on OSM is always empty. Together
this would help to decide whom to contact for mapping parties or just
exchange of ideas. And yes, I have seen the 'nearby mapper' information,
but I don't know how to extend the radius or just find mappers at a
holiday location.
