[OSM-newbies] Coincident named footpath and differently named road

Hi Bob,
I would say adding a relation to describe the whole Thames Path would
be very useful. There are already route relations used this way around
London for the Capital Ring, London Loop, Lea Valley Walk and more,
and they nicely solve the problem of named walking routes following
otherwise named streets.
You can see an example rendering at

To be consistent with the existing walking routes in the area, the
relation can be tagged as
type = route
route = foot
network = uk_ldp
name = Thames Path
