[OSM-newbies] Download city sample for simulation

Hi,

My name is emmanuel Lopez, im a phd student at cinvestav guadalajara 
campus (www.gdl.cinvestav.mx), im implementing a microsimualtor usign 
event oriented approach and multiagent paradigm, and i want to use the 
information provied by openstreetmap, i really only need the length of 
the street, the width, x1,y1, etc. to execute my simulation, where i can 
download a little sample of some city , as i read, you provide xml format,
I hope you can help me.,
