[OSM-newbies] JOSM: delete specific nodes

Hi,

I am a new volunteer to openstreetmap from India. I have a newby query
regarding usage of JOSM.

I have a highway with, say, 30 nodes, and I want to delete 3 nodes and
recreate them. Now, when I select any node on the highway, it selects
whole highway and deletion affects all the nodes selected. So, how do
I select only 3 nodes?
