[OSM-newbies] Looking up location based on address (geocoding)?

Hi

There are some possibilities using OSM data but I'm not well versed on them
so I'll let someone else tell you them. You might like to try the Multimap API
as it offers a geocoding web service. There are no hard limits on transactions
(but please read and understand the terms if you do go with it) and you can
sign up for free. We're also the only people offering free UK postcode lookups
as far as I know (if that's any use to you :) Go here for more info:
