[OSM-newbies] JOSM preference set up

I had never tried changing the colour settings before I changed it
for untagged yesterday (and then took a while how to set it back
again). Somewhere my preferences to download raw GPS data is
remembered, as are the bookmarks I’ve saved – ah yes here it is. On
Windows Vista they are in

C:\Users\Ed\AppData\Roaming

With files called preferences, bookmarks and a subfolder for
plugins.

 

As a test I just deleted the preferences file and started JOSM, and
despite it giving the following messages on startup:

Silent shortcut conflict: 'system:saveas' moved by 'system:save' to
'Ctrl+Shift+S'.

Silent shortcut conflict: 'system:pastestyle' moved by
'system:paste' to 'Ctrl+Shift+V'.

Silent shortcut conflict: 'edit:unselectall2' moved by
'system:selectall' to 'Ctrl+Shift+A'.

Silent shortcut conflict: 'view:gpxlines' moved by 'system:cut' to
'Ctrl+Shift+X'.

Silent shortcut conflict: 'tools:createcircle' moved by
'tools:aligncircle' to 'Shift+O'.

Silent shortcut conflict: 'audio:slower' moved by 'audio:faster' to
'Shift+F9'.

Silent shortcut conflict: 'system:about' moved by 'system:help' to
'Shift+F1'.

Could not get presets icon presets/boule.png

it does seem to have recreated the file (previously I only got the
messages about boule.png). This with the 1042 build incidentally.

 

So it might take a bit more than downloading JOSM again – you may
need to remove the preferences file if it already exists (I’d
suggest renaming it or backing it up in some manner – I just
restored mine to get back the Plugin definitions that the newly
created file didn’t have).

That is not how any of my lines look in JOSM.  Their all orange or
blue depending on the color I set in preferences for untagged.   Did
you set any of your preferences when you first started JOSM?    I
will redownload JOSM and not touch any of the preferences.
