Tiles are small compared to most embedded views, I would think once
per tile would be too much and suppress too much other useful detail.

I assume you mean 'the primary' to mean the longest road on a tile of
the highest way classification found. Filtering with a minimum length
of a large fraction of tile dimension may be required, as otherwise,
If a motorway or primary highway clips a corner of a tile it would be
elected the tile's primary feature.
