[OSM-newbies] Difficulty in viewing OSM map - Where I'm up to (sadly)

Hi Dan,

Sorry if I missed this detail, but when you visit
http://www.openstreetmap.org what is it that you do see? Does any of
the site appear - with just the map missing, or "more OSM coming
soon tiles" or something? Or does the site not load at all.

Are you just going straight to that URL? Or have you got a shortcut
that takes you to a specific location such as a permalink like:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=51.8314&lon=1.1588&zoom=12
