Hi folks,
until recently, I just used GPS like a Nokia N95 and a random bluetooth GPS,
which takes ages to connect (they always do cold start, so I had do wait for
like 10+ minutes to get a signal). Now, a friend of mine let me try his
Garmin Etrex Vista HCx, and the difference is HUGE, like water to wine! I
can get a signal inside my house (which was impossible to do with my other
GPS) and it gets signal in, like, 5 seconds, it's amazing. I also enjoyed
being able to map for more then 4 hours (the battery limit of N95 tracking)
and the possibility to exchange the batteries since they're AA. Actually,
I'm tired of the low time available to map in N95, and the fact I'm cycling
around I have to return to home to charge it...
However, a Garmin Etrex Vista HCx costs US$933/EUR 636 here in Brazil, AFAIC
way more expensive then elsewhere. I also don't need that graphical
representation. What GPS do you recomend that have the same capabilities of
fast connection, SD card logging and adding waypoints easily - i.e, the same
chipset? Searching on the wiki, I found this huge list [1], if I search for
GPS that have the same chip as that Garmin, would I get the same fast
connection?

Thanks a lot.
