That price is complete ripoff. Like Jeremy says, you should be able to  
buy it _much_ cheaper from the Internet!

Do you really need the electronic compass and the barometric altimeter  
functions? The eTrex Legend HCx has received very good reviews and by  
many considered the "standard" tool for OSM work.

The eTrex models have letters that specify some of their specs. Most  
important these days is to get one that has an "H" which means it has  
the "high-sensitivity"  SIRFstar III chipset [0]. The "C" specifies a  
colour screen, and the "x" specifies that it can log to a microSD  
card. You definitely want that, and let's face it, the colour screen  
is very nice.

Amazon sells the Legend HCx at $184. The Vista HCx is $230, so you pay  
$46 extra for the altimeter and compass functions.
