[OSM-newbies] Any purpose for both an closed way, and a separate node in the centre?

Still, I don't see the advantage of this. The easiest is to create the new
way, copy the tags from the node to the way, delete the node. The way
creation and the node deletion are in the same changeset. You can retrieve
(if you like because again, you will notice the polygon replacing your old
node which is good enough for me) the whole history through the identical
changeset number. Keep things simple, especially on the newbies list.
