Here's a sneaky way...
Use the 'p' function (Parallel Way), choosing an offset of 0.
This creates two identical locked copies of the way.
Click on the way again which should select one of copies and drag it sideways.
Click on the way again to get the second copy and also drag it sideways.
Now unlock whichever of the copies that you want to keep.
