[OSM-newbies] Editing a gps trace

Hi Raj

Welcome aboard!

As has been pointed out, there are processes to convert your GPS trace
to a way, & it can certainly save time.
However you should be aware of the inaccuracies of GPS units.

Without any edit of the trace these inaccuracies will be transferred
into OSM.
Please spend as much time as possible correcting any known problems.

If for instant you have a dead straight road, it doesn't need to have
points every 10m.
I once saw a way that was a footpath that went straight across a field,
but the unedited trace was so wibbley-wobbly (technical term) that it
looked like it was done by someone who was very drunk.

Also, I try, if time is permitting, to map not just the way but many
items surrounding it, such as joining roads, bridges, tunnels water
features etc.

Happy mapping!

Cheers
Dave F.
