Also, Is there a way to copy an way? That would mean you'd have a 
version with all the points in there original location that could be 
moved back into place once the other ways had been unjoined, deleted etc.

It's the "draw new points near the original locations" that I find a 
PItA to do. You have to memorize where you think they were.
