I thoroughly recommend the Garmin Geko 201.  It's a bit old these days, but 
it's simple to operate, well-designed, robust, waterproof, etc.  You will 
need an interface cable, but you can get a cheap one from Pfranc, or make one 
with a piece of stiff plastic[1].

Mine has travelled for nearly 17000km (not just for OSM!!).  That's a lot of 
short trips, and 8000km in Australia. :)

Google is your friend, so please research this model.
