[OSM-newbies] Help splitting road

[Clifford Snow]

I need help splitting a local road.  In Seattle, North Northlake Way
connects into N.E. Northlake Way at a different spot than currently shown.
 How do I change the split location.  If I go into Potlatch, there is a
split icon, but it is grayed out when I attempt to select the icon after
selecting the road.

BTW - I have verify that the road is labeled wrong, not only from living
nearby but looking up the street on Seattle's GIS map database.
