If you are looking for a (size factor) small device which is very 
capable as a logger I'd recommend the Royaltek RGM-3800. I've made good 
experiences with it mapping offsite in Iran. Two AAA batteries as power 
source where you can easily take some spare ones with you. Only downside 
is that the readout software is Windows only (although you can run it in 
a Virtual Machine)
