Hi Sebastian
I have a Nokia N9, a linux smart phone. Its not sold as part of a
contract in the UK, but can be bought SIM free from places like
expansys.
I use a free app, called marble. It is a KDE app, I also have the
fullsize version on my Fedora laptop.
It makes a good job of making tracks that I can then upload to OSM.
Roundabouts come out as a circle, rather than a triangle based on 3
points that I get from my old garmin handheld device.
It also displays OSM maps live, so useful for spotting missing or wrong
roads which I can then drive and log.
Its great in the car, or for short walks, but battery life means it
can't be used for long walks. My old garmin is still the best for that.
The mobile version of marble also includes the mondav router, which I
have began to use for real navigation. It works and comes up with goo
routes.
The major problem mondav has is it just doesn't understand roundabouts
(OSRM does), which in Telford is a major limitation. It tells me to turn
left when approaching a roundabout, right to go around it, then left to
leave.
Telford is a Shropshire new town which a designed by emptying a packet
of polo mints onto a table.

The N9 is a fantastic phone.
