[OSM-newbies] Rivers and Streams

Hi

I've recently did some walking in Eskdale in the Lake District UK using openstreetmap on my GPS.  I'd like to add some stone walls to help with the path navigation to the map but have noticed a number of streams and the main river do not follow the Bing images very well.  Putting in the walls would require adjusting these.  How to people log streams/rivers and it is reasonable for me to adjust these using the Bing images.  Path and road data seems to line up well on the Bing images so they would seem to be registered correctly.  Some advice as to the best way to approach this would be appreciated.
