[OSM-newbies] What is a "bridge" ?

No need to draw the shape of the bridge.  Just the highway on top,
split at the nodes at each end, tag the section that is on the bridge
as bridge=yes, layer=1

That is probably the simplest way to do it.  If you want to add a
little more detail then look at the wiki here for suggestions:
