[OSM-newbies] Bot edit

I am not a complete newbie, but I am when it comes to bot edits.  A bot has
come when I wasn't looking in the guise of TIGER name expansion, and added
southwest to the names of all the streets in my subdivision.  That is in no
way part of the name.  It is a deprecated postal designation for the local
post office.  The post office doesn't even need the ordinal directions
since they use zip codes anyway.  That same bot edit has apparently changed
the name of 10,000 streets in Georgia, USA.  Do I have to manually revert
the ones I am familiar with?  Is there any way to prevent bot edits on
features that have been manually edited?
