My experience is high zoom level tiles are updated within minutes. Tiles
that cover larger areas take substantially longer, weeks. For example if
you add a building, it should appear quickly. You may have to clear the
browser cache. If you add a large feature, such as glaciers, you might wait
a long time before the renderer get around to updating it.
Work was just done recently updating the renderer which may delay it
somewhat, but I haven't noticed any issues.
BTW - to see what is mapped, check the Map Data to see what is there. Map
Data is found on layers. It easier than going to Geofrabrik.
