[OSMF-membership] New member and grace periods

Arrrrgh. now I'm going to have to read the AoA and companies act again. :-)

If I recall correctly, the foundation is obliged to review applications and accept them. That is, someone might apply and be rejected by the foundation. That rejection is probably, currently, done by the board on an ad hoc basis.

Such review might be a responsibility of this group. So potential rejections could be flagged and brought to the attention of the board for ratification. I presume that the default will be, and has been, we accept members and presume that all join in good faith.

Also, iirc, there was a rejection in past on the basis of an application by a "troll". There is a
n argument that anyone serving a DWG ban might also be rejected when applying for OSMF membership.

I don't know how a DWG ban or other foundation reprimand would effect a current membership status. Interesting question for this group, I guess?

And again, from memory, I think Henk currently uses 12months as a grace period? I suppose that reduces the chance of " gaming" OSMF membership for voting in 13 elections but only paying 12membership fees?

Best regards,

Richard
