"Most of the sponsor money goes back to the OSM-F"
Is this really the case? I was unaware of that.
I want to suggest that more of the (very impressively attributed, but as yet unquantified) sponsor money goes not to the Foundation but to delivering on something that has been offered/promised for the last two conferences but that has fallen over due to restricted resources (as I understand it) being made available.
I refer to streaming the sessions - one sure way of reaching out to more of the community with the excellent sessions that take place at each conference.
Cheers
STEVE

We charge for the conference so that there is no risk of the Foundation losing money if sponsorship does not materialise. Attendee fees cover venue hire and basic equipment and catering. Sponsor money covers more exciting catering options, plus the Saturday evening meal. Most of the sponsor money goes back to the OSM-F.
So if the point of workshops is education and outreach, we could make them free / very low cost. If the point is to make money for the Foundation, there are probably more effective ways of raising money from NGOs and other organisations who have indicated that they are willing to donate to OSM-F.
