And the membership secretary (Henk) would need to adjust procedures a little. No need to send a reminder, but would need to check that the direct debit has gone through each time. In the long run it would probably reduce the amount of nagging emails and other processing needed.

Alternately you could setup an annual standing order. There is the option to setup a recurring PayPal payment, which would work internationally and would require a bit of setup on the OSMF side. Direct Debits are UK only as far as I'm aware.
