Diversity, and gender gap in particular, are historical, persistent,
hard, omnipresent problems. If they were easy to solve, they would be
solved long time ago.
Kate, Emilie, Kathleen and others provided links to extensive reading
materials about it. Let us make a pause, invest some work into reading,
and get acquainted with the problem.
Charles Kettering wrote: "The only difference between a problem and a
solution is that people understand the solution." So if we understand
the problem, it will be already a meaningful part of the solution.
For example, such thing as a child care service at a conference. It
could be, if well marketed and well programmed into a booking system, a
beneficial thing for everybody, - for participants, for organizers, and
for licensed care givers.
At the same time, if the problem of gender gap is solved, the
participation and efficiency of the project could be at least doubled.
