I would like to have a feature to add oblique aerial and ground photos
to objects on the OSM map. Similar to Google Map, but better. Here is a
couple of examples of oblique low-altitude aerial images for a train
station /La Plaine/ https://goo.gl/maps/mjMkHTS8GA72 and
a nature reserve /Teppes de Verbois/ https://goo.gl/maps/mjJuVT3ruQU2
Google Map automatically reduces resolution of images, what is not good
for seeing details for mapping. It is possible to add images to the OSM
map indirectly via Wikimedia, no resolution reduction in this case, but
an object should have a notability.
DJI released a new foldable quad-copter Mavic http://www.dji.com/mavic ,
with the 4K camera and 7 km range, which can be carried in a briefcase.
It is an absolute revolution in aerial photography. However, I guess
such a feature would be more than "some money", as each image takes
about 3 MB. But maybe in future, when disk capacity increases further?
Best regards,
OLeksiy
