Aliya,
Watch the keynote by Emily Jacobi at the 2017 State of the Map US
conference. Emily Jacobi is the Executive Director of Digital Democracy.
Part of her talk covers the Doctrine of Discovery which is people use to
claim ownership of the land of indigenous peoples.
I've had conversation with a number of the tribes near me on what it would
take to get them to start mapping their lands. The first thing that comes
up is cultural sensitivities. Its a very interesting subject.
Best,
Clifford
