Hi Michael,

The frontend of the site incl call to action and everything else needs a
massive redesign - as does the backend and much more. I am a self-taught
developer and this is my first project. You might notice that I don't have
a logo, or a video. When I get something to work, I have no choice but to
move on to the next task as my todo list is growing faster than I can get
things done. Thankfully, it works but I haven't revisited the front-page
since the launch over 1 year ago. It's supposed to say "crowdfund me". I am
hoping that society might think open data on plastic pollution is important
and worth supporting? So far that hasn't been the case but if you think
that developing technology to educate society about plastic pollution with
open data is important then I think €5 a month is pretty good value for
money if you are any way seriously inclined about plastic pollution and
would like to see technology developed independently without waiting for
grants and having to deal with IP related issues from government
procurement tenders etc. I have applied for many grants, but not even the
mighty pineapple fund - who I would have been honoured to put on my paper -
thought open data on plastic pollution with blockchain rewards was worth
supporting (which really makes me question myself) and instead I am left
with no option at the moment but to continue asking for support as I would
like to hire another developer and maybe even pay myself a living wage.

Similarly the terms and conditions, and privacy policy need legal advice
and they need to become a lot clearer. I don't claim to have any legal
expertise and if I had funds then I could consider options but right now I
am focusing on a first grant, which takes a lot of time, and getting the
technology to work. I have not yet registered anything and I want to get
that done this summer. I would like to set up a limited company to try and
make a profit with the open data (anyone can) and I would also like to
register a non-profit to cater for community work and capacity building but
I am not sure on the legal technicalities of that. As it stands the code
and the platform is mine and all of the data is open. You can see the open
database licence at openlittermap.com/terms

I don't understand what you mean by the data isn't free or open. If you
visit this url, openlittermap.com/maps/Ireland/download you can download
all of the data for Ireland, for free, all of which has been manually
verified, and you don't need an account. Could you please tell me, how
could I possibly make the data more free and open than that?

I was not aware that I needed any permission from anyone in any other
community or organisation to go ahead with my own independent project
OpenLitterMap to make data on plastic pollution available to anyone for
free as open data. Can you provide further information?

Thanks,

Seán
