+1, OSM represents a billion dollar commercial value and it would be
absolutely negligent by an intensive corporate user of OSM *not* to try
and increase their influence on the project by any means possible. Not
trying to do that would be seen as a weakness by your boss and/or your
venture capitalists. This has nothing to do with how "nice" a person is,
they will get fired if they don't play along.
Of course, it would always be clad as a benevolent way of securing the
investment ("our company does so much with OSM, of course we have an
interest to see it flourish, therefore we want to install our employees
as your board members, it is only for your best").
The proposed amendment is one of many possible building blocks that can
help harden OSM against unwanted influence; we must implement many more
in the years to come.
