Do realize that a project may also involve software development, not
only mapping. And not all developers need to be hardcore mappers
themselves, teaming up with helpers or just getting the gist in a few
weeks could be enough for many projects. Almost anyone can be a hobby
mapper without preconditions, while only a tiny fraction of the
population can function as a software engineer (or UX designer,
project manager, etc.). See:
