Hello Mostafa: سپاسگزارم / مچکرم Mochakeram! (Thank You!) for your contributions to OSM, for celebrating our birthday as you and other OSM community members will do so in Iran and for your comments in this thread about how we do or might name the Gulf.

I followed the thread(s) about naming the Gulf and I agree, it is not an easy topic and it is beyond the scope of this "Happy Birthday" thread.

I have said this many times: in things which are not perfect (people, projects, friends, political systems, pretty much everything), if you look for imperfections, you WILL find them. We can continue to "grow" OSM even as it contains (what might be considered minor) flaws or disagreements, and we can do so while we are mature and reasonable, even as we disagree. I don't know how every single problem in OSM might be resolved to "as near as perfection as we might hope" but I can certainly grow those aspects that I do have some direct control over, and doing so makes for a better map and a better project. Some of us have real contributions to make to solve specific problems, and those are quite valuable. Let us strive to do our best going forward and continue to celebrate our awesome (but yes, not perfect) map: step by step, individual contributor by individual contributor contributing local (and wider) knowledge and data, and importantly, as we work together.

Best,
Steve All

We are "reasonable with others," we are self-aware and we make sound, good decisions for our future. We have earned respect as we have arrived at this milestone. Let us continue to grow into a bright, bold future.
