Well, all of the above would seem to go counter to the what the 
membership actually decided, and second, doesn't seem to offer the 
option of telling the board that the whole thing is a terrible idea and 
should not be implemented in the 1st place (which was implicit in the 
original decision).

It isn't a question of if I, myself, consider such restrictions a good 
idea or not, the problem is that you are simply not offering the 
membership any alternative to the path the board has decided to go down 
on a very controversial matter.
