I'm hoping this awkwardly-translated phrase is an idiom that doesn't translate well into English.

I am not commenting on the rest of your comments, but as a German native, the way Roland has phrased this, is emphasizing the statement, but could have been said in a more offensive way (typically the term “Arsch” is used, which is also an insult, while the term “Hintern” (rear) takes the insult out of it). From my own personal experience with the individual in question, the description is a good characterization of what happened during the years when he was at the power of deciding iD presets, and it lines up with what he has stated himself several times, e.g. in github issue discussions, regarding tagging decisions and the established community consensus and the wiki documentation of it.

Cheers Martin
