nowadays translators tools give us a good understanding of content of texts from other languages.  I suggest that you re-read Roland discussion which is simply about the Risk of Hostile takeover of the OpenStreetMap Foundation with 4 seats open. 
Yes there are important communities in France, Germany, USA, etc with different visions and strategies. And there are the corporate partners with their own strategies. You should also re-read imagico blog. Let's not be be naive and simply look at the nationality of candidates and view them as simple local craft mappers. 
Election vote is starting relatively soon and meanwhile, I would like to see Candidates come and discuss about this subject and other aspects they think important to talk about.
