The OSMF having a goal doesn't preclude you from mapping whatever you want.
The OSMF not having a goal leads to myriad problems.

I'm not sure personally I want to be motivated and inspired. I'm quite happy mapping in my own quiet way and I suspect many mappers are a bit like me.
Now if the editing tools could just stop HOT mappers uploading another building where one is already mapped that idea might be interesting.
