Good idea. Many businesses and small hobby site owners are running
away from Google Maps screaming that they are asking for an exorbitant
amount of tiered per impression fees.
If OSMF could provide a special OSM-based map widget for a small fixed
fee (like $1/month?) for which they could get a little heart marker in
the corner and such, it would totally be worth it. The personalized
heart could even link the visitor to an OSMF chart of public donors by
donation period.
Or we could go back to the well established million-pixel ad model.
Clicking the heart would pop up "This graticule was brought to you by
the annual donation of XYZ diary farm" Then donors could perhaps even
bid on them (perhaps no links to lessen spam and subject to only
allowing text that the majority of OSMF members agree with, etc).
