[OSRM-talk] Fixing routing with tags

If that's an issue for authorities: they're in the best place to make legal changes to how such a road is classified. If they don't want thru traffic they'll need to classify it as "destination only", possibly for certain vehicle types or times or whatever. Again, we shouldn't add things to OSM that don't exist on any level, it's a slippery slope. I can also promise that most communities would revert that pretty much instantly.

As we said, there's ways to algorithmically get around this problem inside any engine, by using proxies for the problem (road importance being one, though there's likely others). That's much more work obviously than just tagging some stuff. But it's the right (and really only) way to go. And if someone wants to get in control of their processes (like routing), they will also need to invest a bit, in this case in developing missing features in a routing engine.
