[Photon] Next steps

Hi guys,

It is nice to see more and more attention drawn to photon. From my point of view there are still two main points remaining for having a productive ready state:

#1 dump import and exports
Felix came up with an approach to use es' internal snapshot feature. It would have the advantage of super fast photon setups as the dump contains preindexed data. However we kind of abuse this feature and we could not get this approach working. @peter: do you have some news about it?
When I am back from my holidays I can get my hands on it again and if the snapshot stuff is not working I don't feel bad to go one step back and make a solution based on json dumps.
Once we have this feature photon user will have a very easy setup which is a big plus point in the world of geo coders.

#2 search logic
This is a little bit a black box for me as I am not aware of the current state of yohan's work. Can you give an update and an outlook? How can one support you? I thought we might make a small sprint (1-2 days) so we can work on it together? Some komoot background: in komoot we still use a very old version of photon (still solr) and have some severe bugs (even some big cities cannot be found) I am keen to work on a search logic that resolves those bugs (a basic version is already satisfying in the first step maybe without fuzzy). So I can easily justify towards komoot to work on this some days.

These are my thoughts so far and I am looking forward for your opinions!

Cheers,
Christoph
