[Photon] Recommended Java version for Photon?

Hello,

 

we are currently setting up a Photon instance for our WordPress mapping
plugin www.mapsmarker.com <http://www.mapsmarker.com> . On
https://github.com/komoot/photon it says that the minimum requirement is
Java 6. I wonder if there is also a recommendation to use Java 7 or Java 8 -
or if that is not relevant as Photon works with all java versions?
