Thanks. I have figured out how to edit the presets so they offer routes.
Unfortunately, some hiking routes are tagged with "foot" and some with
"hiking". With the <match> rules I was not able to create a preset that
offers both. Neither could I use the network tag for filtering as there
are plenty of hiking routes here that do not have that tag.
Funny enough, I found the lines
     <!-- TODO: make this work -->
     <tag k="place" v="*"/>
in the map_features. Is it planned to support wildcards for tags?

Another thing I could not figure out: For some reason, input fields that
have been assigend to a category always show up as duplicates on the
Basic-Tab. Especially speed is stubborn, regardless what I do, it always
wants to be on the first tab. Does this have anything to do with the
priority parameter?

And finally: How to you draw a sideroad from an existing way? As in:
Select a way, select or create a node and then start drawing a side road
from there?
