[Potlatch-dev] "Building" category in Potlatch2 map_features.xml

Hi all,
I have a few concerns about the way the Building category has been
defined. If this is just because the definitions were made in a hurry,
and I should just go ahead and change them, let me know.
Otherwise: Several of the definitions don't (IMHO) meet current best
practice: there should usually be separate polygons for the
school/hospital/whatever and for the individual buildings on that
site.
School: building=yes, amenity=school. This implies a single school
building, where the entire property of the school is a single
building. Possible, but rare.
College: ditto
Supermarket: ditto. More likely than for the other two, but I would
usually include a carpark within the bounds of the
amenity=supermarket, and tag the building separately.
Place_of_worship: Maybe ok, but usually there's a carpark or other
grounds that aren't the building.
Hospital: Very frequently there are multiple buildings, carparks etc.
University: same as for college
Attraction: I think the presumption that an attraction equals a
building is quite unfounded. There are plenty of attractions
(particularly natural ones like waterfalls, scenic lookouts etc) with
no building at all.
Zoo: as for all the others.
So, I would remove the "building=yes" tag from all of the above
(perhaps making it an optional property), and come up with some new
category to describe them.
Steve
