 This is probably the recent intentional behaviour change detailed in
 #3562.
 You first have to select objects with a separate click. Then you can drag
 them.

 Personally I think it should be made an option.
 I can see the value for beginners and in very dense areas, but it does
 increase the click count when you are mostly moving things around.
