 The problem is that, if we were to implement every warning everyone
 requests about anything a newbie could possibly do wrong, the list of
 warnings would be so long that

  * it would fill two pages
  * no-one would ever read it.

 There are really two solutions: one is for someone to implement (as Steve
 B says) True Offset Process or similar, such that offset is no longer a
 problem; or for someone to write better docs than the woeful existing ones
 (and that includes P2's help docs, which I'll happily admit are not
 stellar). We can't expect everything to be handled by modal warning
 dialogues.
