Definitely, I'm up for axing tabs, though that's definitely a larger task. Backlog for that looks like (to me)
* Simplify the search box and its accompanying text so it can be pushed to the top, out of the sidebar
* Decide whether direct links to GPS Traces and User Diaries should stay. I don't understand why they are featured, but also don't really use that functionality - could this be pushed farther into the structure, or into the sidebar?
* Probably unify the 'true no tabs' control style with the map controls for switching layers, so that editing the map seems like a natural mode like switching layers.
This involves a few semi-political moves and a bit of restructuring, so I'm thinking it should be deferred for now.
