Is that necessarily the best idea? I could imagine that you would get a lot of confused "support requests", asking where iD has disappeared to, or how to find it. If instead of removing it depending on browser, you just grey it out and give an appropriate error message about unsupported browser if one clicks on it, things might be clearer to the user. On the other hand one might then get a lot of complaints why IE isn't supported.

Again, I think silently falling back is probably not a good idea. Falling back with error message would probably be my preferred solution.
