We in this context means the people who will have to maintain the code
going forward - even if somebody else writes the code in the first place
there is always a long term cost to be born in mind when accepting it so
it's not a simple case of integrating every feature somebody chooses to
write.
We restored bbox because we considered it sufficiently useful and also in
large part because it has been documented over a long period of time as a
way to display a specific area. It also had minimal cost in terms of it's
interaction with the rest of the code and the likely future maintenance
burden.
The cost of restoring box=yes is more significant because it means bring
back infrastructure components which have been removed, and then
maintaining them purely to be able to continue drawing those boxes which
no part of the site would otherwise need.
