Hi everyone!
Richard explained that this is the right place to be for discussions of site design.
I have had a rolling, low-level conversation with Mikel about his desire for social features on OSM and I'd like to gauge interest here. I am a fan of ad-hoc, hashtag-style socialization (as used on Twitter or the free creation of new IRC channels on Freenode), and I believe that such an approach might work well for OSM if integrated into the site proper.
I have some code which parses and indexes hashtags for changesets, hastily assembled for this weekend's Editathon:
https://github.com/migurski/OSM.org-hashtags
You can see the output here:

I imagine a new set of pages on OSM.org, keyed on tags and integrating tagged changesets, notes, and comments streams from logged-in users.
-mike.
