Comment:

 This is basically a timeout, and happens sometimes when fetching very
 large and complicated relations, especially when you fetch the history.

 You may have more luck fetching from the API than using the web interface,
 as it has less work to do and (depending on the call) may go through a
 more efficient route.

 I believe there are already bugs open for this basic problem, so I'm going
 to close this as a duplicate.
