Right, so the only data you see in the editor is the data you have added 
right? Which means the editor is, as expected, editing against your 
local database.

The map tiles you see in the map view come from the normal tile servers 
though - if you want those to reflect your database you will need to 
setup your own rendering server and change the code to point at that.
